For frequent Nail Polishes users like myself . . . in addition to the awesome nail lacquers, nail polish removers is our second best friend :D After our mani's looked chipped and almost worn out, It's definitely time to pull out these polish removers. Nail Polish removers will either be acetone based or non-acetone based. Both are designed to dissolve the resins, plasticizers, and pigments contained in the polish so it is easier to wipe away.
Acetone VS. Non-Acetone |
What is acetone??
Acetone is a colorless, flammable and strong smelling liquid that is most often found in nail polish removers. It is capable of removing glitter nail polish highly pigmented nail polishes or any add-on/artificial nails (acrylic nails) with ease.
Non-Acetone Nail Polish Removers:
Non-acetone based nail polish ingredients can be made from a variety of materials, typically propylene carbonate, ethyl acetate or isopropyl alcohol. Some may also contain elements such as panthenol, soy or glycerin that will help minimize the drying effects this solvent can have on the hands.
In spite of these ingredients being gentle and safer than the pure acetone, they do not do a very effective job. It will take a bit more effort to remove the polishes especially those that contain dark pigments, glitter manicures or shellac-based manicures (Gel).
Acetone Nail Polish Removers:
Acetone is naturally found in trees, and naturally breaks down body fat. This product is known for is strong aroma but it works quickly ad with less effort, it evaporates quickly and gives the nails a cool feeling sensation.
Acetone may be a more effective chemical for nail polish removers, but the ingredients that they contains have downsides; They cause health concerns due to the toxicity of the ingredient and is highly flammable
Acetone is the most effective chemical for nail polish remover, but this ingredient can cause health concerns due to the toxicity of the ingredient and its fumes.
Acetone Check List:
Removes dark pigmented polish or polished that are intended to prevent chipping with ease P
Non-Acetone Check List:
Takes up a long process to remove nail polish P
So all in all, if you guys are frequently dressing up your nails :D and constantly removing them, it's best to use non-acetone removers.
TIP: Always remember to moisturize your hands and cuticles to prevent and detrimental effects.
I recommend Pure Nail Oil from Ana or Pure (Virgin) Coconut Oil. . . both products I use to help keep my nail Hydrated
Hope you guys found this helpful, I decided to blog about this as my nails started chipping and cracking then I read the ingredients *DUN DUN DUN* ACETONE!
